Nationally, bankruptcy filingsa for the 12-month perioed ending March 31, 2009, were up 33.3 percent over bankruptcg filings forthe 12-month perioc ending March 31, 2008, according to statistics releasesd by the administrative office of the U.S. In the Middle District of Florida, there were 47,04 bankruptcy filings in the 12 months endecdMarch 31, 2009, compared to 30,031 in the year ended March 31, 2008.
There had been 18,017 bankruptcy filinge in the year endedMarchj 31, 2007. During the quarter ende March 31, there were 13,332q total filings in the Middle Districgtof Florida, including 9,687 Chapter 7 filings, 127 Chapte 11 filings, and 3,513 Chapter 13 filings. Ther were 683 business bankruptcies filed in the quarte endedMarch 31, including 507 businessess that sought to liquidate through Chapter 7, and 116 that sought to reorganiz their debts through Chapter 11. Therse also were a total of 12,649 non-businesds bankruptcies filed in the three monthsx endedMarch 31.
