Attorney Thomas D. Collinzs III was sentenced June 2 by Judgs Leslie Hayashi for failing to file his annuak general excise returns for 2002 througu 2006 and his individual income tax returns for 2004through 2006. Colline pleaded guilty to eight counts of willfulo failureto file, according to the Hawaii Department of Collins was ordered to pay restitution of $41,980. He was also finer $16,000 and $440 in other couryt fees. Attorney Emmanuel Guerrero was sentenced before Judgee Blake Okimoto on June 5 and was charged with threew counts of failing to file his annual generalk excise tax returns for 2004and 2006.
He pleaded no contest to all He was ordered to pay a fineof $1,500 and $165 in other court fees. Veronica Esteban was sentenced beforre Judge Okimoto onJune 5, for failing to file her annual genera excise tax returns for 2001 through 2005. Estebanj asked for a deferrakl of her plea asa first-time and Okimoto denied her stating that she was a businesswoman and investor who earned sufficient income to pay her taxes and shouldd have known better, the department said. Okimoto found her guilty of all charges and placed her on probationb fora year. She was ordered to pay $15,436 in restitution, a fine of $10,000, probatiohn services fee of $375, and othere court fees of $275.
She must also performm 100 hours ofcommunity service.
